hey folks, hope 2006 is off to a good start for everyone. last night was the shining embodiment of excess for me, and I'm paying the price for it today.. but I'm still smiling i've recently been getting back into photography (although now of the digital variety), and I've posted some of my art and travels pics on my friend's server. This link is to the newest set of photos, taken a couple days ago: somebodyku.ultranurd.net/Commonif you have any comments or criticisms, i'd love to hear them! Hope you're all well., Em

those are some quality shots! I like. What kind of camera do you use, just out of curiousity?

Thanks Brittany I feel like I can take technically correct pictures now, but it'll still be a while until I actually develop an eye for good composition and such... but learning is fun! I'm using a Canon Powershot A95. It's a really nice camera-- basically a point-and-shoot with manual controls. I believe there's a newer version of this camera out now.. the A610 I think. I would love to get a digital SLR, but it's going to be a while before I have the funds to do that. And after all, I have plenty to learn with my current camera.

Mmm...Oban, Edinburgh, and York, among several places I haven't gotten to see (yet)...I remember those all so well. Did you hike up to Dunollie Castle on the hillside in Oban? or go to the distillery? We took a ghost tour from that very square in Edinburgh--the one from the picture labeled as quite possibly your favorite city in the UK so far, and York...I'm going back there...I am. Hopefully for grad school, if all works out. Love the pictures, Em. Thanks.

Thanks, Em We didn't hike up to the castle in Oban, or see the distillery, though we did go to the Talisker distillery on Skye, and many other castles along the way. Haha, I think I saw a sign for the same ghost tour you probably took in Edinburgh. Apparently it's "5* award-winning"! What would your course be at York? A friend of mine studied at York for a bit and I think he said he liked it there. Have a great week, Em

This would be my course of study, hopefully. Specifically early Medieval Britain. I'd be on-site, and it would be awesome. And yeah, that Edinburgh tour (not the "family" version, but the scarier one) was pretty darn good for a ghost tour, though the one in York went nearly as well.
